This privacy policy describes how Kallima (“Kallima” or “we”) handles personal information in connection with its website (the “Site”), the communications sent to it, the donations it receives and the services it operates.
Kallima follows a data minimization principle: it only collects the information strictly necessary for the purposes described below and, where possible, collects none at all.

1. Visiting the Site
Cookies. No cookies are set on visitors’ devices. The display language is determined by the address of the page viewed (/fr/ for French), not by a cookie.
Scripts and tracking tools. The Site works without JavaScript. It contains no audience measurement tool, no advertising pixel and no social media button.
External resources. Everything the Site displays, including the typeface, is hosted on Kallima’s server. No third party is informed when the Site is visited.
Server logs. The web server is configured to keep no access logs. IP addresses, pages viewed and browser characteristics are not recorded. Only serious server failures may produce a technical record.
External links. The Site instructs browsers not to send the address of the originating page when a visitor follows a link to another site. Third-party sites are governed by their own policies.
Address parameters. Search terms and the amount entered on the donation page are added to the page address in order to generate its content. They are not recorded by Kallima, but may be kept in the browser history.
2. Email communications
Information collected. When someone writes to Kallima, for example to obtain a Tor bridge address, Kallima receives their email address, the content of their message and the metadata added by their email provider.
Purpose and retention. This information is used solely to respond to the request. Exchanges are deleted once they are no longer needed for that purpose.
Security. Regular email is not end-to-end encrypted. For any sensitive message, Kallima recommends using its OpenPGP key, whose fingerprint appears in the Write to us section of the home page, or an email address that does not reveal the sender’s identity.
3. Donations
Donations are processed by external payment service providers, whose own policies apply. Kallima only receives the information these providers send it:
- Liberapay: depending on the donor’s visibility settings, their Liberapay username. Payment details are not sent to Kallima.
- Interac e-Transfer: the sender’s name, email address or phone number, the amount and, where applicable, their message.
- Bitcoin: no identity information. Each transaction nonetheless remains public and permanent on the blockchain.
- Monero: neither the donor’s identity nor the amount is publicly visible.
This information is used solely to keep Kallima’s accounts and, at the donor’s request, to send thanks. Kallima never publishes the identity of the people who donate to it.
4. Services operated by Kallima
The Tor relays and bridges, proxies, SearXNG search engines and encrypted DNS service operated by Kallima keep no logs of the traffic that passes through them. By design, a Tor relay never knows both a user’s address and their destination.
5. Disclosure to third parties
Kallima does not sell, rent or trade any personal information. It only discloses information to an authority when required by law. In keeping with its minimization policy, Kallima holds no visitor list, no browsing history and no logs of its services.
6. Access to the Site’s administration
Team members who access the Site’s administration have an account and receive a session cookie, strictly necessary for authentication. No member’s name is displayed on the Site.
7. Requests regarding your information
Anyone may ask to see, correct or delete the information Kallima holds about them by writing to the address below.
